SLU will play its first-round game of NCAA Tourney on home turf

Despite faltering in the Atlantic 10 Tournament to the University of Massachusetts, 2-0, the Saint Louis University men's soccer team still managed to receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Awaiting the team is a 7 p.m. showdown with Drake University tomorrow night at Robert R. Hermann Stadium.
SLU is hoping the homefield advantage will give it a better opportunity to advance. The winner will travel to Bloomington, Ind., to face the No. 6 Hoosiers Nov. 25 at 7 p.m.
Drake (13-4-1) is making its first appearance in the NCAA tournament. SLU (11-4-5), on the other hand, will be competing in the tournament for the 45th time.
The 48 teams participating in the tournament are gunning for a spot in the Men's College Cup in Frisco, Texas, Dec. 12-14.
"I am proud of my team, but we know we have a very difficult match against Drake, which has had a great year," head coach Dan Donigan said.
The team is looking to avoid its fate from last season, in which it fell to Illinois-Chicago in the first round on penalty kicks.
SLU has already faced five teams in this year's NCAA tournament field. Against Connecticut, Northwestern and Creighton, the Billikens managed three double-overtime scoreless draws.
As for the other two games, SLU delivered a win against Denver University, 1-0, but lost to conference rival Dayton, 1-0, on Oct. 19.
